Books that Have Changed my life! - Leadership Books

Leadership books are a resource for smart leaders. There are many conferences or workshops out there to attend, colleges to go through and classes to attend but the best resource out of all of these is put into books. Granted it's not as beneficial to read books rather than occasionally get some training but a great leader is a reading leader.

I always remember the movie 'Good Will Hunting' when Matt Damon is making fun of the guy from the University whilst he's trying to impress a girl. He challenges him academically and makes the student look like an idiot, not that Damon has any college years for himself but as he says he had a library card and knows more than any college student due to his interests in reading.

Leadership books open our perspectives into new ideas, speaks wisdom into our lives and broadens our prospective horizons.

The benefits of reading in this way is that you get to listen to the words from some of the greatest leaders of our time. It's almost like sitting there and having a coffee with an absolute revolutionary leader.How could you not be challenged to grow and develop as a leader?

Books at the moment are being outdated a little bit with a struggle to adapt to a digital world but with the growth of e-books and digital media they are becoming essential as books help society to document ideas and challenge our minds. A great example of this is 'The Purpose Driven Life' by Rick Warren, despite whether you agree with its contents it's had a huge impact on peoples lives. The clever adaption here is the I-Phone app. you can get which has the digital e-book of this work along with video introductions and the ability to take notes etc.

This innovation is creative genius and i'm not saying the invention of this is through Warrens particular book but this is where books are evolving to.

Interactive Media joining alongside traditional books.

Personally I like to use all sorts of media to learn and thats why primarily I use Movies and Books. Leadership Books accompany Leadership Movies quite well as there's great theory and content in books and visual/practical outworking of them built into movies.

Follow to Lead by Don Mercer

Is a brilliant work that has taken shape through the many leadership experiences that Don has had. Having corresponded with him personally, I could tell right from the beginning that he has a great heart and passion to see people reach their leading potential. This book is very practical and almost like a handbook to help people learn and develop both personally and in a group environment.
